We're officially adding Turquoise to the Dragonskin Modal. It's taken us a while, but we heard your requests. All of the Dragonskin Modal fans that have emailed or messaged us about adding Turquoise Cerakote, your time is now!
The Turquoise Dragonskin Modal is our Modal rollerball pen with milled overlapping "dragon scale" grip design. It features a professionally applied coat of Aztec Teal (H-349) Cerakote described as "a rich aqua color" that leans right into the traditional turquoise range. Depending on how it's applied it can cure with a slight shine or completely flat, this latest batch splits the difference with just the tiniest shine to the finish. The texture of the cured Cerakote is smooth, but not slippery providing a good grip when writing. This is the first time we've featured this Cerakote color on the Dragonskin Modal, and we've decided to pair it with full aluminum hardware in terms of the clip, button, and slider. The Clip and button have been lightly tumbled while the machined aluminum has been left raw. Includes a Pilot G2 refill in 0.5mm tip size and black ink, ships in our recyclable packaging.

We offer a comprehensive Lifetime Warranty against manufacturing defects on parts and pieces we manufacture in-house. We also offer a Lifetime Service & Repair option requiring the customer send their item in to us and in most cases we will repair items free of charge. If an item is deemed as being damaged due to negligence, a charge may be applied to repair the item and we will contact the customer in those circumstances. Items not manufactured by us MAY have a limited warranty, please contact us for questions via the contact form.
A New Darkhorse
Our latest addition is our take on the traditional bolt-action pen with a side button and deep-pocket clip. The Modal took over half a decade to bring to fruition with so many iterations along the way, we didn't know if it would ever make it to production. Our initial sketches for this pen go back to 2018, and Josh created a crude prototype in early 2019. Those pens look nothing like the finished product, and it took a lot of thinking outside the box to finally get the version of the Modal you see today. The upper body of this pen is one of the most intricate and time-consuming pieces we've ever designed. The upper body and clip went through six separate engineering changes from launch until the design was finalized in 2025. Externally the pens look nearly identical with the current production models being 1/8" longer than the original. The Modal is on pace to overtake the Bolt for our bestselling pen just a few years into its existence. Currently we're updating standardized versions for late-2026 release as well as planning out a full slate of special and limited releases through early-2027.
Previous Releases
We specialize in producing unique and interesting limited and special release small batch products to ensure we have something for everyone. We partner with an ever-expanding group of artists and professionals to provide versions of our pens that range from hand-engraved to force patinated to hand-painted. Small batches range from 10 to 30 units some will never see a second release.
